Lucas loves cars

http://www.lucaslovescars.com is an Australian online store dedicated to little boys and their obsession with cars, trucks, trains, planes, ambulances....

“Mummy look! It’s a Aaaamulance!”

“Mummy look! It’s a Wubbish Twuck!”

I have always wondered about the nature versus nurture debate, until I had my little boy. Until the age of one he played with blocks and the other typical baby toys. For his first birthday he received a number of car-themed presents and it has been an obsession ever since. The books with cars are his favourite for bedtime reading. Every day he has different ‘special cars’ that he plays with. He just can’t get enough of anything with wheels.

Of course I think my little boy is special and unique in this regard, but everyone keeps saying “It’s a boy thing”. That got me wondering … if all boys love cars, why are they so hard to find? Sure you can get matchbox cars, Thomas the Tank Engine trains and Lightning McQueen from “Cars” (who is a God in our house). But where did the wooden, simply designed cars go? The ones that are kept long after the little boy has grown up. Sitting on the shelf, where just looking at them brings back childhood memories. At the same time my mum, living some distance away, has always wondered ‘who does he like today?’ Is it Dora or Thomas the Tank Engine or Chuggington? It’s hard to keep up with who actually is the flavor of the day. When did toys become so intertwined with TV shows? Lets get back to trucks that we can name ourselves, and pictures that are universal.

And where are all the websites dedicated to boys? Surely I’m not the only mum who wants her little boy to wear little boys clothes without the skulls or older designs and play with quality, beautifully designed toys.

So here we are. I hope we have made it easier for you to find something for your car obsessed son, nephew or grandson, who is also just as special and unique.

“Lucas, what are you doing today?”
“I’m playing with my caaaaars, mum!”

Our Commitment to you ...
